Rajon Rondo is a fine basketball player who has an eye for the spotlight, if not always the basket. He’s a flashy player who brings added sizzle to the biggest of the big games, and now he’s headed to the Dallas Mavericks, a playoff-bound team with an expectation of making regular appearances on national television come springtime. And Rondo will deliver. He’s been reborn in that he’s now playing for a team whose games matter. As opposed to playing for the Celtics, who are so far removed from the big stage that the Rondo trade is probably the last time this season they’ll be worthy of any serious discussion.
